Database Studio

Database Studio is a private SQL workspace in your browser: drop in data files or a SQLite database and query them with real SQL engines (DuckDB for analytics, SQLite for .sqlite files). Your data is read from disk and never leaves the page.

Features

How to use it

  1. Drop a CSV, Excel, Parquet, JSON or SQLite file (or try a sample).
  2. Open a table to browse, filter and edit it, or write SQL and press Ctrl+Enter.
  3. Commit your edits, export results, or save the database file.

FAQ

Is my data uploaded?

No. Files are read and queried in your browser with DuckDB and SQLite compiled to WebAssembly. Nothing is sent to a server.

Can I connect to my Postgres or MySQL server?

Not directly: browsers can’t open database connections. Export a table to CSV or Parquet, or a SQL dump, and open that instead.

Can I draw an ER diagram from SQL?

Yes. Paste CREATE TABLE statements (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQLite or SQL Server) or DBML into an ER diagram, or open the diagram of any database you loaded. Relations come from foreign keys, and columns like user_id are linked to users.id as inferred relations.

Why is my query slow?

Click Explain to see how the database runs it: full table scans, temporary sorts, nested loops and cross products are pointed out. On DuckDB, Analyze runs the query and times every step; on SQLite you get the CREATE INDEX that would help, ready to run.

Can I make charts and dashboards?

Yes. Switch a query result to Chart, pick the chart type and columns, and export it as PNG or SVG, or pin it to a dashboard that re-runs its queries whenever you open it. Notebooks mix SQL, charts and notes and export as an HTML report.

Can I edit data?

Yes. Open a table, double-click a cell (or just type), add or delete rows, then review the generated UPDATE/INSERT/DELETE statements and commit them. A SQLite database can be saved back to the file you opened.

How big can files be?

DuckDB reads files in place, so files of several gigabytes work on a desktop browser; the limit is your device’s memory for what a query needs.
