CodeVault
CodeVault keeps the code you reuse in one place: helper functions, queries, configs, commands. Search finds a snippet by its name, tags or the code itself, and pasting code finds the snippet it came from. Every edit is kept as a version you can compare and restore. Share a library with your team, end-to-end encrypted, and send your snippets to VS Code so they show up in autocomplete.
Features
- Snippets with several files, a description, language, framework, tags, source link and author
- Highlighting for about 40 languages, detected from the code or the file name
- Search across titles, tags and code; camelCase and snake_case words are split, and pasting code finds near-duplicates
- {{placeholders}} in the code with defaults: fill them in, then copy the finished code
- Every change kept as a version, with a side-by-side diff and restore
- Collections, pins and favourites, filters by language, tag and author
- Team libraries, end-to-end encrypted: the server stores only data it can’t read
- Import VS Code .code-snippets, GitHub gists and massCode; export to VS Code autocomplete, JSON or a share link
- A warning before a key, token or private key ends up in a shared snippet
How to use it
- Click New snippet, paste the code and give it a title (the language is detected).
- Add tags, a description and {{placeholders}} for the parts that change.
- Search, fill in the placeholders and copy, or export everything to VS Code.
FAQ
Who can read my snippets?
Only you, or the people in your team workspace. Without an account they stay in this browser. Signed in, they are encrypted in your browser before they sync, so our server stores only data it can’t read.
Can I use my snippets in VS Code?
Yes. Export → VS Code snippets downloads a .code-snippets file; put it in your project’s .vscode folder (or your user snippets) and each snippet appears in autocomplete, with its {{placeholders}} as tab stops.
What can I import?
VS Code .code-snippets files, a GitHub gist (paste its link), massCode’s db.json and CodeVault’s own export.
How do placeholders work?
Write {{name}} in the code where something changes, for example a table name. Copy asks for each value and fills in the code; a placeholder can have a default and a note.
